Trivia time! How many Heisman trophy winners can you name going back to 1990? (answers below)

Did you know?

1.   Iowa beat Michigan for the third straight time...first time they have beaten the Wolverines 3 straight times

2.   Michigan State has won 13 in a row at Spartan stadium

3.   Texas AM is now 0-7 in Norman during the Bob Stoop's era

4.   That was Andrew Luck's first win in the state of Oregon

5.   Les Miles has an incentive in his contract that if he wins the nat'l champ. he will automatically get paid more than the highest paid coach (which is currently saban)

6.   Les Miles is now 46-4 in nite games

7.   Iowa currently has 5 Tight ends on NFL rosters

8.   Air force's win over Army gives the Falcons their second straight CIC trophy

9.   Houston's Case Keenum is now the all time passing leader with 17,212 yards,,,,by the way..one website has him listed as the 16th best NFL QB prospect

10. Texas Tech is 0-7 in Austin during the Mack Brown era and 5-29 all time in Austin

11. The Georgia Bulldogs have only allowed one offensive TD during their 7 game winning streak

12.  The place kickers from Alabama and Arizona State were just seen applying for their passports

13.  Texas recorded their first back to back 400 yard rushing games since 1977

Observations from around the country

1.   Remember when Tommy "tupperware" promised to bring a SEC presence to the Big 12!

2.   How does Texas Tech beat Oklahoma on the road and then get outscored by Iowa State and Texas 93-27

3.   Bo Pelini is 37-14 at Nebraska but it seems like every time I look they lose an important game

4.   Michigan's Denard Robinson could become the next great Arena Football player

5.   Was it just me or do the Texas Longhorn's look like they want to be a SEC type team..speed on defense and a power running game

6.   If future Longhorn recruit Johnny Gray lives up to the hype how will the Horns keep all three backs happy in the future

7.   Couldn't Lou Holtz and the CBS annoucing team be asked to leave the country

8.   Did anybody catch San Francisco Giant's relief pitcher Brian Wilson's prediction of the South Carolina at Arkansas game..on college game day..classic!

9.   John Thomas must have enjoyed the 1960's classic featuring Alabama vs LSU

10. No question the LSU vs Bama game was loaded with defensive talent...what speed. However, that was an awful display of offense..I truly believe Stanford, Oklahoma, and OK State

would at least score 2 touchdowns

11. Call me crazy but I'm not sold on the fact that LSU beats Arkansas and Georgia (SEC championship)..remember Georgia lost 35-21 to Boise State

12. Ole Miss will need a coach real soon

This week's biggest winners

1.    LSU.......it was ugly in my opinion but a 3 point win at Alabama sets the Tigers up perfectly for another National Championship.

2.    Oklahoma State, Houston, Boise State, and Stanford all remain unbeaten

3.    Northwestern......not only did they beat Nebraska in Lincoln but they were the more physical team..back up QB Kain Colter was great in the upset

4.    UCLA......Rick comes off my Hot seat list as the Bruins upset #19 Arizona State

5.    Arkansas...this one loss team does get a shot at LSU in the last regular game of the season

This week's big losers

1.   Me- I have always thought Les Miles was one of the most overrated coaches in the country but he clearly out coached Nick Saban...I will never understand the wildcat pass from Bama

2.   Oklahoma's All American wide receiver Ryan Broyles is lost for the season with a torn ACL

3.   The Big 10

4.   Arizona State....missed 3 field goals and is upended by UCLA

5.   North Carolina is shut out by in state rival NC State 13-0 and has dropped 5 straight to their in state rival

6.   Despite being outgained 553-351 Louisvillebeat #24 West Virginia 38-35

Late games you might have missed

1.    Florida State  38-7 over Boston College (2-7/1-5 ACC) ensuring BC's first losing season since 1998 and breaking their consecutive bowl streak at 12

2.    Tulsa remains undefeated in Conference USA with a 24-17 win over Central Florida

3.   Matt Barkley tossed a school record 6 td's as USC (7-2) pounded one of the worst Div 1 football teams in America, (1-9) Colorado.....The Buffs did break out some really cool new

black helmets...how about a game between Kansas and Colorado

4.    The Humboldt State Lumberjacks improved to 8-1 on the year with their 45-30 victory over Dixie College

5.    The Oregon Ducks overcame a sluggish start to defeat the Huskies of Washington 34-17

What I'm watching next week and predictions

4-2 last week (picked Michigan and Bama) season record of 34-8

1.   Oregon at Stanford...if you want a college play off vote for all the undefeated teams..Stanford will control the ball..Cardinal  34-30

2.   Auburn at Georgia....if Georgia passes their drug tests they beat Auburn wih a solid defense....27-17

3.   TCU at Boise St........TCU playing better but they are afraid of the blue turf...Broncos kick Frogs  31-24

4.   Nebraska at Penn State....a team must win this conference..Penn State plays solid defense but Cornhuskers shuck Lions  24-20

5.   Texas at Mizzou..............Horns improving but Mizzou has weapons......Tigers 28-27...Horns have won 15 of 16 in this series

6.   Miami at Florida St........JohnThomas is the only guy who remembers when this game was important...FSU improving  27-24

One of my very few readers asked me which college teams I vote for and root against

Teams I can't stand

1.   Notre Dame..nobody else close

2.   UCLA...........sorry John Wooden

3.   Texas AM....talk football with an Aggie and you will know why

4.   OHio State...the fans, Woody Hays, and the most overhyped players in history,...Archie Griffin and T. Pryor

5.   Michigan.....they don't even realize they haven't been a factor in 10 years

6.   Florida.........hope the Gator chomp eats Muschump

7.   Miami.........old memories

8.   Nebraska.

9.   Alabama

10. Arkansas

Teams I root for

1.    Iowa........I know I will never witness a CFB national championship

2.    Texas......only when they don't play on the Longhorn network

3.    San Diego State....I'm from San Diego

4.    Tennessee..............I promise..they were a good program when cheating was allowed

5.    Michigan State.......Sparty!

6.    USC.......................It's hard because their fans suck and they hired Lane

Rumor Mill

1.  Former Texas quarterback Garrett Gilbert has told SMU he intends to enroll there, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad.

Gilbert could sit out next season and possibly succeed Kyle Padron with one year of eligibility remaining.

2.  Georgia running backs Isaiah Crowell, Carlton Thomas and Ken Malcome are suspended for the Bulldogs' game against New Mexico State on Saturday, coach Mark Richt confirmed.

Richt would not discuss the reason behind the suspensions, only that a violation of team rules occurred. "They didn't do things the Georgia way," he said.

But a source told DawgNation that the three players were disciplined for failing a drug test that was administered last week before Georgia's 24-20 victory over Southeastern Conference archrival Florida in Jacksonville

3.AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas redshirt freshman wide receiver Chris Jones is transferring after two seasons with the program
