By Bryan ScottOur LH Thunder team recently played in the Super Series World Series hosted in Round Rock, TX.
The team consists of eight 12-year-old boys from Liberty Hill and three more from surrounding communities. The team qualified during the spring of 2010 to play in the tournament. Prior to the actual World Series tournament, Super Series hosted the opening ceremonies at the Dell Diamond at a Round Rock Express game, where the teams were introduced on the field prior to the game.
The tournament also included three skills competitions - a Home Run Derby, a Flying Spikes Baserunning contest and an Around-the-Field Throwing drill where each team moved the ball around the entire diamond.
Our LH Thunder team did very well in these competitions with LH player Caleb Guerin winning the Home Run Derby; Caleb Guerin and Tanner Vrabel finishing third in the Flying Spikes; and, Kyle Armstrong, James Rollins, Justin Hoge, Zane Scott, Cooper Phelan, Tanner Vrabel, Ethan Shirey and Colton Farquar finishing seonnd in the Around the Field Throwing Drill. LH player Kalub Foster also competed with the team and in the Home Run Derby.
